He has been given full protection by the state government by deeming a status of Panchayat ward and the status of Panchayat head. The Pipon decides upon community policy and makes regulations binding upon his society but he is more concerned in maintaining the existing laws than to alter them. He looks after the execution of all public works. Pipon looks after the law and order, and also settles different social disputes(theft, divorce, land disputes, adultery etc.) with the help of elderly people (18 senior members of the village are invited) in the society.
